It’s (finally) December! We’ve had the Christmas cards, decorations and homewares out on display in the shops for a few weeks now, but we always notice a sudden surge of acceptance of it all once the last page is turned on the calendar. There’s definitely a psychological shift once we cross the threshold from November into December. We all do it - mutter that late November is still “too soon” to hear Mariah Carey in the radio - but the second your advent calendar comes into play it’s suddenly socially acceptable to don your Christmas jumper and go full-on Buddy the elf!

So, now that we’re officially in the same month as Christmas it’s time to get glittering… at home we’re ready to go fully festive – that means tree up, decorations out – Christmas candles burning and seasonal songs streaming!

Our favourite - and without a doubt most popular - range of Christmas decorations are from Gisela Graham. Now a household name, she’s been bringing the world an endless stream of new and original ideas for seasonal decorations and gifts for over 35 years. The Gisela Graham name is now synonymous with quality, meaning that her decorations are always greatly received gifts as well as satisfying self-purchases. Her range is so broad, but we always pick out a couple of themes to base our collections around in the shop and window displays. This year we have a stunning peacock window featuring products such as the petrol blue acrylic swan and the blue and purple sequin rose clips. The dazzling jewel colours look absolutely incredible together – but they’re not for the faint hearted!  And we have an equally enchanting winter wonderland window in pale gold featuring products such as these pretty natural snowy cone bunches and this fantastic skating hare decoration. This is a much more traditional look, but it still manages to fit with most modern décor too, after all who doesn’t love a bristle baby deer?

Our third Christmas window this year features an array of Nisse or Swedish Santas.  If you do like the cute factor, then you will love Swedish Designer Brand Naasgransgarden, who create the most adorable range of toadstool lanterns and sets of Santa and Nisse figurines like this set of three santas, which is so dinky - each character standing between just 7 and 9.5 cm. They have also named a lot of their characters, like the irresistible Elmer and Max. Sass and Belle are another brand who are very good at creating charming little decs – like this dolls Christmas wreath hanging decoration, which we think would make a lovely gift too

After all, Christmas decorations do make fantastic presents, and it can be a sweet touch to add a little hanging decoration to your parcels as you wrap them to make them really personal. Simply tie on a cute tree decoration or wrap a little piece of festive foliage around your ribbon alongside the gift tag to give them a bit of added interest and show how much thought you’ve put into each present.

You might still be thinking that it’s slightly too soon for hanging decorations but there are plenty of other ways that Christmas can creep into your life! It’s definitely time for the Christmas crockery to put in an appearance, we strongly feel that everyone should have a Christmas Mug. Our favourite design this year is the Holly and Berry Mug from Sophie Allport.

However a very close second has to be the wonderful Winter Animals Half Pint Mug from Emma Bridgewater. Both of these brands have fantastic Christmas collections this year, with Emma Bridgewater’s including mini boxed mugs and jugs, perfect for gifting to a fan, and Sophie Allport’s featuring some lovely trays and textiles too.
